Stain Removal
Throughout the years in the cleaning industry, chemicals, cleaning
techniques, and equipment have made much advancement. This makes
cleaning easier, more affordable, and very profitable. We find
the toughest carpet stains can be easily removed and severe odor
problems quickly neutralized, with today’s chemical technology
(Royal Restorations and C.T.I Pros Choice products). The secret
in removing stains is purchasing the right chemical for the job,
and using the proper technique or method of service. We recommend
cleaning carpet with the heat steam extraction cleaning method
pre or post stain removals. Every stain and odor has its own identity,
and should be treated with the product designed for its removal.
There is no such product that eliminates every stain and odor.
With products made by Royal Restorations and C.T.I. (chemical technologies
international), you can quickly solve your stain removal and odor
neutralization problems. Please see attached page to browse the
stain and odor flow chart. This will identify what products you
can purchase from Royal Restorations to eliminate stains and odor.
Just simply look at the stain identity column, and see what products
will treat and remove that specific stain. The flow chart may be
printed out for you to have during jobs, and assist your employees
with specific stain removal. Some products are harder to use than
others. There are many methods of stain removing techniques.
Stain Removal Techniques:
1. Always Properly Clean Area of Carpet First: With the proper
chemicals, the staining may break and may not require special treatment.
Please see carpet cleaning page for carpet cleaning instruction.
Also, you may refer to Royal Restorations Product Guide for chemical
diversity when cleaning carpets.
2. Pre-spray Stain With Designated Solution (designated solution
picked from the Royal Restoration flow chart): There are many
stain fighting solutions that are specifically designed for designated
stains. Let solution absorb stain and carpet fibers. You may
want to agitate stain with a light bristle brush to break up
stain deposits. Be sure to test an inconspicuous piece of carpet
before applying directly to carpet. Also make sure not to damage
carpet fibers by brushing carpet too hard. After a few minutes
of allowing chemicals to work, fully heat steam extract carpet.
A good example for this process is to spray Royal Blue (oil base
stain solution) as your pre-spray, using a hand held trigger
sprayer, onto a oil based stain. You also may want to acidic
rinse (Royal Rinse) the stain to eliminate soap residue, Using
Royal Rinse in the solution tank of your extraction unit.
3. Chemical Heat Press Stain Removal Technique: This is an advanced
treatment of stains. Products such as Red Relief (from the makers
of C.T.I- Pros Choice), requires you to mix parts A and B on
site before application. You then apply mixed solution onto designated
areas, followed by a light brushing of chemicals into stain.
Then dampen a terry cloth, and press a hot iron onto terry cloth
over staining of carpet. These chemicals require professional
application and should be used by a technician with some degree
of training or thorough instruction. Please call our office for
full instruction of chemicals that require this method of stain
removal.
4. Dying Carpeting: You may elect to dye the carpet one color
to another. This can be done in two ways. You can spot dye stains
to original carpet color, or you may dye the entire room another
color. Either way training or detailed instruction will be required.
Spot dying stains from one color to another can easily be accomplished
with detailed instruction. For example: You can dye a light orange
colored stain, back to its original beige color, by adding blue
dye. When the blue dye is mixed carefully in a hand held trigger
sprayer, with hot water to generate a strike ( strike is carpets
ability to properly absorb dye), you can lightly spray stain
while extracting over sprayed solution until the stain goes from
one color to another. You can browse our product section for
available spot dye kits, or call us for any questions regarding
your interest in dying. Spot dying can help any carpet cleaning
technician with the ability to treat stains that can not be otherwise
removed. Dying entire areas, or apartments, can be very attractive
for customers, and very profitable.
5. Patch Repairing Carpet: Patching a stain is a carpet cleaner’s
last resort. Patching so that a customer can not see it, takes
practice. With the right tools for the job, anyone can patch
carpet like the pros. Patching a stain is cutting out the stained
carpet and replacing the hole with matching carpet. You can
match it perfectly by pulling a piece from a closet. The cutting
of the carpet must be precise and can be perfectly cut with
a razor carpet cutting device. This specialized item and razor
replacements can be purchased by visiting our products section.
You must cut the new carpet with the same dimensions as the
replaced carpet. This is easy with our razor knife, which sets
into place by locking in place for custom cutting. You must
apply hot seam tape under patched area, then place a terry
cloth over installed carpet, and heat tape by applying heat
gun, or hot iron over terry cloth. The heat will melt the tape
so that the carpet glues to surrounding edges. Although a last
resort, patching is a valuable tool in the carpet cleaning
profession. We also carry a full line of carpet repair kits,
power stretching equipment, and carpet kickers.
