Treating Odor Problems:
Treating odor problems begins with an understanding of the source of the problem. What is it that is causing the odor? If you have determined the source, go to the Royal Restoration flow chart to find the proper product(s) for use. Once the source of the odor is determined, we can begin to treat it. Smoke, pet, urine, mold, bacteria, vomit, and mildew are just a few culprits in odor causing mechanisms. The good news is there is help in eliminating odors that just don’t seem to go away. Odors that don’t go away indicate that they are not properly being treated. You must treat severe odor problems at the source, and not just mask them with common deodorizing agents. For example, carpet may be properly cleaned with heavy top of the line cleaning agents, but an odor may reappear in a few days. This indicates one of two things: 1) the carpet was not properly cleaned, or 2) there may be a soil or urine spot that was either missed or is saturated into the carpet padding. This is a good example on why carpet cleaners should ask many questions when arriving to clean your carpets. To treat urine use a number of Royal Restorations products (Royal Odor Neutralizer, Royal Air Freshener, Royal Peach, Double Mint Disinfectant and/or Royal Blossom). Methods of Odor Control Applications:
The method of application for the products we sell, depends on the situation, and what product you are using. While searching for a product, remember to read its full description of use, its main function, and how it should be applied. There are three common applications of products in the restoration field:
1. The Wipe Down Method of Cleaning:
Whether you are contaminating a site or simply wiping up some odor causing material, you spray using a hand held trigger sprayer, let sit and bubble for 20 seconds to allow maximum chemical absorption, and wipe clean. This is the most common cleaning method in the cleaning industry. It is good to know a few key things when using professional cleaning products. Listed below are a few hints when using sophisticated cleaning agents:
A) While spraying a Disinfecting agent cleaner, such as our product Double Mint, it is good to spray the product heavily on designated areas and allow 5 minutes for the product to attack the pathological agents. You must then flush area thoroughly to secure that no contamination is left behind. A good Enzyme treatment, a quick spray and wipe down of enzyme solution, may follow to assure that any possible missed bacteria or mold doesn’t grow back into a problem. We recommend the use of Royal Blossom enzyme cleaner.
B) Never mix solutions from one professional cleaning agent with another to save time or create a mix to better clean an area. A mix of chemicals with severe capabilities is never a good idea. This could create a hazardous situation, and if you’re a contractor, could pose a law suit for negligence.
C) The chemicals we sell at Royal Restorations, LLC are highly concentrated and some require dilution ratios with water. The goal with these products is to save money, and make products stronger, with customer’s ability to decide on chemical strength depending on job site requirements.
D) Royal Restorations chemicals all have specific labeling on each and every bottle we sell. Please read them carefully. This reading could save you time, money, labor, and a trip to the local hospital. Knowing your product line is crucial in business. The more educated you are on the products you use, the more information you can give to your customers.
2. The Wicking Method of Odor Control, and Neutralization:
Wicking is spraying a very strong chemical product that vaporizes for hour and hours. All Royal Restoration products have this wicking effect. We designed our products to last much longer than normal, after the professional cleaner leaves the residence. You can spray these solutions on walls, carpets, sinks, tubs, closets, curtains, upholstery, rugs, bare floors, in stores, restaurants, cars, busses, or smoke filled rooms, etc. Wicking chemicals can be sprayed, mopped, or air fogged (next method of odor control), and items can be soaked in the diluted chemicals. 3. The Air Mist Fogging Method of Odor Control and Neutralization:
Air mist fogging is applying a spray mist of chemicals through the air, which creates a mist fog. This process produces micro-management of odor causing agents through the air and excellent odor control capabilities. You can purchase hand held electric spray foggers through our web page or calling our office for full details. Smoke, pet, urine, and other odor causing agents don’t stand a chance with these machines and the write product. All of Royal Restorations odor control products can be used in an air mist fogger machine. We highly recommend this type of treatment for odor problem situations.
